Prevention From Dengue Fever And Their Symptoms

Dengue is one of the most prevalent vector-borne viral diseases in the world. Its danger can be stressed by few facts on dengue. Dengue is a seasonal disease as it is noted to be common viral infection in all seasons. The agent to transfer the dengue virus is a common mosquito called Aedes aegypti, which works round the clock in a year to transmit dengue. On an average there are 75 million cases of reported dengue fever around the world per year. Out of which 500000 cases are said to the fatal because of severe dengue.

The symptoms of dengue include acute fever for a week and a second fever will come in two another couple of days. Patient will feel fatigue in the following weeks. Thirty percent of patients will report nausea, diarrhea and vomiting once the initial symptoms are in place. Patient will imbibe respiratory problems such as cough and sore throat in Parallel with the above mentioned symptoms. Most common symptom is the appearance of rashes in various parts of the body. WHO (World health organization) classifies fever as dengue fever when the platelet count drops instantaneously for the patients.

The dengue virus is transmitted by the bite of Aedes mosquito. The mosquito will incubate in the human body for 2 weeks and begin to show some symptoms like acute fever. The risk of dengue is high in infants and children below 15 years and it has proved to be more severe in female than male. There is no specific therapy for dengue fever. The effects can be minimized by taking care of few basic things as preventive measures. It is recommended to consume adequate water and remain hydrated. This increased water content will improve one's immunity against dengue fever.

Dengue can be prevented or the risks can be reduced by having enough clothing and covering the skin. Use of insect repellant is recommended during the early hours of morning and late afternoon when the mosquito activity is high. Bed netting is also recommended when the mosquito population is high in an area. The aedes population can be greatly reduced if the breeding places of the mosquitoes can be reduced. The aedes mosquito breeds mostly on the wastage water and garbage rich areas. The cleaning and recycling of garbage is highly recommended in dengue prone areas. Large water containers are to be treated before supplying it to the public for daily usage.

Education on prevention of dengue has high impact, as prevention is better than cure. Solid waste management is one of the important concerns when it comes to dengue prevention. If the solid wastes are left to decay on its own by bacterial action, it can breed aedes mosquitoes easily which can transport dengue virus. During rainy seasons the spread of dengue seems to be alarming. Usually government issues a notice to public to take preventive measures during rainy seasons by consuming boiled water and by disposing the stagnant water as soon as possible.
